Tegucigalpa

San Juancito
San Juancito is a small town located 21 miles from Tegucigalpa and has a population of about 2,000. It preserves its mining history since colonial times until the mid twentieth century.


Cuevas de Talgua
Talgua, a town located 2.5 miles to the east of Catacamas in the department of Olancho, is known because of its unique caves that are partially roofed by the “crystal skulls” that are believed to be about 3,000 years old.


Ojojona
This picturesque place is at a distance of 20 miles from Tegucigalpa. It is probably the archetype of the Honduran rural colonial town. It is situated in a small valley, surrounded by pine tree covered mountains and small rivers that cross the town.


Roatán
This island is famous because of its beautiful beaches and its coral reef, the second largest in the world. Without a doubt, it is the perfect place for a tropical vacation.


Trujillo
Trujillo is in a hidden location in the Honduran Caribbean. It was the first place Christopher Columbus visited in the mainland of the Americas and where the first mass was given and also the country’s first capital city. It boasts 19 miles of white sand beaches.


La Ceiba
La Ceiba is considered the ecological capital of Honduras and is home to beautiful beaches and a direct access to the Pico Bonito National Park and the Cuero y Salado ecological reserves. It also headquarters the Standard Fruit Company and is the birthplace of Honduras´ first bank, Banco Atlantida.


Tela
Tela was founded by the Spanish Captain Cristobal de Olid under the name of Triunfo de La Cruz on May 3, 1524, who was sent by Hernan Cortes to colonize Honduras departing from Veracruz, Mexico. In 1526 it was assigned to Trujillo Ville.


Copán Ruinas
Copan Ruins, world-famous due to its millennial ruins of the once powerful Mayan Civilization. In it you can learn about their science, art, religion, and culture since it is considered the “Athens” of the Mayas. Not far from it you can visit “El Puente” archaeological site.


Yuscaran
Yuscaran, a picturesque town just 42 miles to the east of Tegucigalpa offers a rich colonial mining history. It is the center of operations of one of the most famous liquor factories of the country, “Aguardiente Yuscaran”


Zamorano
Zamorano is the other name that the well known Pan-American Agricultural University receives. You just need to travel 19 miles from the capital city to have the opportunity to get in touch with a country-style living and agricultural technology that is put into use to take the farm products into city homes.


Comayagua
Comayagua was Honduras´ second capital city and held that title for over 300 years. Due to this fact you can find beautiful colonial churches that date back to colonial times and the oldest clock in the Americas, which is still working. Above all, you may admire the baroque style cathedral in the heart of the city.


La Tigra
La Tigra National Park, just a few minutes away from Tegucigalpa, offers you the opportunity to make contact with nature itself with its broadleaf forest, considered a humankind heritage and fresh air supplier to the city


Valle de Ángeles
It is the most beautiful town, surrounded by gorgeous pine forests and provides many attractions including the opportunity to buy all sorts of handicrafts


Santa Lucia
It is a small town to the east of the capital city and retains its rich mining history, which can be observed in its cobblestone streets and its olden homes. Perhaps one of its main attractions is the statue of Christ found inside its church
