This tour lasts about 8 hours and we値l visit 3 old mining towns.

Our visit begins in Tegucigalpa from where we値l drive 22 miles on a paved road to San Juancito. This community had a mining boom after the colony ended, at the end of the XIX and beginning of the XX centuries, unlike the other towns we値l visit. San Juancito is where the Rosario Mining co. had its headquarters. The richest silver mines ever exploited in Central America were here. The silver fever lasted from 1880 until 1950. The first hydro electrical plant in Central America was built here and so was the first bottling company, Pepsi Cola. You can still visit the ruins of the hydro electrical plant.

After a walk in this town we値l take you to Valle de Angeles, it is about 20 minutes away on a paved road. Once we get here you値l be enjoying a typical Honduran lunch at Don Manolo Restaurant, which is owned by a Spaniard.

Valle de Angeles is a lovely colonial-style community located in a tiny valley that is completely surrounded by pine trees and has become an important artisan center with permanent expositions from all over the country. Here you can shop at any of the number of souvenir shops which sell at good prices. One of the most outstanding and interesting places to visit are the National Artisans Association of Honduras Pavilions where export-quality crafts of all sorts are offered, so it is the ideal place to buy in.

We値l be leaving for Tegucigalpa at 3:00 p.m. but on the way we値l stop at Santa Lucia, a small town that is known for its flowers production and its steep, winding, narrow roads and its old church where you can see Black Christ statue. This statue is one from a lot that was given by the Spanish Crown to mining communities during the colonial era. Here we値l walk and then rest by the park or by the lagoon before going back to the city where we値l be arriving around 5:00 p.m.
